Council Approval Process
Before you can start a residential or commercial building, you need to check if you need a building approval. Most steel sheds in Beaudesert and the wider South East Queensland area will require a building approval. This can a daunting task if you’ve never undertaken a building project.
We have many years of experience obtaining building approvals with councils and if you require assistance our private building certifier is expert at preparing and lodging the appropriate paperwork and plans directly with local council town planning.
In addition you may also find that what you want to build falls outside council’s standard rulings in which case some form of relaxation will be required. This may be due to the size of your shed, it’s proximity to the boundaries or perhaps you are wanting to build in an area zoned by council as requiring management of vegetation.
Not sure if you require council approval for your building, you may find the following links useful:
Engineered to the Highest Standards
You can rest assured the engineering of our steel sheds meets the latest standards and complies with the current building codes through our ShedSafe registration and use of the latest engineering software.
Correct Site Classification
Most customers have little understanding of wind speeds and the forces their shed might be subjected to relative to their location. (Take a look at our page on wind ratings here.) An incorrect high wind speed assessment can lead to unnecessarily high building costs. Too low a wind speed estimation and your shed may fail in a severe weather event and an insurance company might not pay out on a claim as the building was deemed “not fit for purpose”.
If you’ve ever received one of our free quotations you’ll also notice we’ve taken care of this for you with a full check of the wind loadings for your proposed shed using Site Check software. This allows us to pin your proposed shed’s location on the map and accurately calculate the correct wind speed taking in to account the surrounding terrain and topography.
This wind speed figure is included on your quote as well the structural components necessary to meet the required Australian Standard AS1170.2 for steel framed structures and the latest National Construction Code NCC2019 requirement.
Beaudesert is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region about 69 km south of Brisbane, South East Queensland.
In 2016 Beaudeserts population was estimated to be 6,395. Population growth has been most significant in the new residential areas Brayford Estate and Tullamore Downs.
Known as the Bromelton State Development Area some 15,000 hectares of land has been earmarked for commercial development. The incentive for economic growth is fostered by providing for the growing demand for undeveloped land in South East Queensland suitable for medium to large scale industrial activities and by taking advantage of the existing railway. The rail line connects Bromelton to the Port of Brisbane, to other parts of Queensland, and to other States.
